Morning: Departure & Snorkeling at Watamu Marine Park

Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM with a pickup from your hotel or resort in Watamu. Our agency vehicles will transport you to the departure pier at Watamu Marine Park Center, a short 20-minute drive away. Along the way, we may stop at other resorts to pick up fellow adventurers.

Upon arrival at 9:30 AM, we will check our park tickets before boarding our glass-bottom boat. This special boat allows you to admire the stunning marine life even before getting into the water. We will sail for about 20 minutes inside the barrier reef before reaching the heart of Watamu Marine Park, an underwater paradise teeming with tropical fish and colorful corals.

Here, you will enjoy an hour-long snorkeling session, where you can swim alongside vibrant marine species. We provide all necessary snorkeling gear, including masks, fins, snorkels, life jackets, and flotation rings for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Midday: Beach Relaxation & Mangrove Exploration

After an exhilarating snorkeling session, we will set sail towards the pristine Garoda Beach, a stunning stretch of white sand where you can swim and soak in the sun. This peaceful stop offers the perfect opportunity to unwind before the next part of our journey.

From Garoda Beach, we will navigate into the enchanting Mida Creek, a biodiverse tidal estuary lined with different types of mangroves. As we cruise through, keep your eyes open for the diverse bird species that inhabit this area, such as storks, herons, kingfishers, and fish eagles.

Afternoon: Seafood Feast on Caterpillar Island & Cultural Experience

By midday, we will arrive at the picturesque Caterpillar Island, where a mouthwatering seafood feast awaits. The meal includes:

After lunch, immerse yourself in an authentic cultural experience. The Giriama community, native to this region, will invite you to witness a traditional tribal dance, giving you insights into their rich customs and traditions. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even join the dance!

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to take a short canoe ride, guided by the local islanders, offering a unique way to explore the peaceful waters of Mida Creek.

Evening: Return Journey

At 3:30 PM, we will board our boat once more and begin our return journey towards the Watamu Marine Park pier, arriving around 4:30 PM. From there, our agency’s vehicles will transfer you back to your hotel or resort, concluding the tour by 5:00 PM.
